A Home Rebuilt — Journey to a Family’s Love

"I did it! I made it to the Express stream!" Ezra* gasped in disbelief as he stared at the results before him.

In that moment of happiness, the memories crashed into Ezra like waves. The silent tears shed on his books and determination were his only companions. The nights spent studying on unfamiliar beds, staring at the ceiling, wondering if he would ever belong anywhere.

Ezra had a tough childhood, facing difficulties at home. The walls of his home, intended to provide warmth and safety, became a prison that trapped him in a cycle of pain. A few years ago, he was placed under MSF Child Protection Services. He also saw a lot of arguing at home, with his father often threatening his mother.

Healing Through Support

Ezra was then referred to Boys’ Town Fostering Services, where his journey towards healing and transformation began. A warm-hearted couple opened their home to him, not as a guest, but embraced him as their son. They filled their home with love, celebrating him with favourite meals, birthdays and family traditions, making him feel truly valued.

Despite the love and care he experienced, the scars of Ezra’s past did not fade easily. He struggled with behavioural issues, but his foster parents never gave up on him. With patience and support, they stood by his side. Guided by dedicated social workers, who provided regular check-ins, emotional support and parenting resources, they worked closely with his school to ensure his needs were met.

From Survivor to Thriving

Determined to see him thrive, his foster parents tirelessly sought a tutor who reignited Ezra’s passion for learning. With their support, Ezra found renewed enthusiasm for his studies, slowly rebuilding his confidence and ultimately, passing his PSLE. Beyond academics, his foster parents and social workers remained committed to helping him rebuild his relationship with his biological mother. As the reintegration plan progressed smoothly, he found himself on the path toward reunification with his biological family. No matter where life takes him, he will always cherish his foster family, loving them as his own.

Ezra aspired not only to do well in school but to one day help others who faced struggles like his. Now, as he stood with his results in hand, he no longer felt alone in the battle. He was no longer just a boy with a painful past—he was a survivor, a fighter and a young man with a future filled with endless possibilities.

About Boys’ Town Fostering Services

Boys’ Town Fostering Services was appointed by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) in February 2015 and began operations in November 2015. We provide support to children, ranging from newborns to 18 years old, who are placed in foster and kinship care arrangements through referrals from MSF Child Protective Services.

Fostering Turns 10! We envision a future where every child thrives in a safe, stable environment, where they feel truly cared for. Today, we manage over 100 cases annually, providing safe, loving homes for children in need.
